Tucked into the forest with a spectacular view of the bay, the Woodland Retreat is a direct response to its setting. This guest house is clad in black stained cedar siding to better blend with its green surroundings. The entry approach weaves through the landscape with the front façade intentionally long and low, only revealing the openness of space and view once inside. The low entry bar houses kitchen, master bedroom and baths, while the large open space is filled with activities of dining, living, and lounging in the bespoke open bunk area. Floor to ceiling glass makes up the water front façade, with a sloping ceiling opening up to the view, pool, and bay beyond. The interiors are kept intentionally light and bright, with accents of wood for warmth. The fireplace acts as a central volume, black to match the exterior. A series of pavilions reside in the landscape creating an overall environment of play, platform, and retreat.
