Given the opportunity to reimagine this bay island as a family compound, we designed a group of structures that speak to these sensibilities by taking their cues from the simple forms of the original buildings on the property that were clad in materials local builders have been using for centuries. The five houses we designed are arranged informally on the property, taking advantage of different siting opportunities and connected by a network of loose pedestrian paths.
