• This historical site sits on the banks of a harbor overlooking the bay and the twinkling lights on land beyond. The house finds itself at the end of a journey through a native landscape. Modest upon approach, the low-slung wood-clad building takes in the play of the water to the north and east and the rolling hill scape and gardens to the south. A forest stands tall to the west. The main focus of the house is to celebrate this landscape and the passage of the sun throughout the day. Tucked into the hill it takes advantage of the natural topography. Natural light plays a key role in the experience and configuration of the house. Clad in Sapele wood on the outside, and white oak on the inside, a natural warmth balances the blues and greens beyond. A destination pool and pool house allow for casual meanderings and more opportunities for engagement and vistas.
